When setting up a ChallengerPlus panel to connect to a mobile app over TCP/IP, the configuration is similar to how you would configure it for CTPlus. However, there are some important differences, especially in the format and IP options.
1. Using the Config Wizard (Recommended)
Instead of setting everything manually, you can use the Config Wizard:
-
Select Type: Mobile App.
-
Enter:
-
Account code
-
Security password
-
Port number (e.g., 3006)
-
AES 256 passphrase (if encryption is used)
-
-
The wizard will auto-apply correct settings for a mobile TCP/IP connection.
If you wish to configure this manually then follow steps 2 and 3 otherwise you can skip to step 4.
2. Create a Communications Path in the Panel
-
In the panel programming software, navigate to:
Comm Paths → Add New Path. -
Set the Interface location to:
-
On Board
-
-
Set the Interface port to:
-
Ethernet
-
-
Set the Format to:
-
Mobile Device (instead of "Computer Event Driven" used for CTPlus)
-
-
Enter the Account code:
-
This should match what will be entered in your mobile app settings.
-
-
Enter the Security password:
-
This must also match the password configured in the mobile app.
-
-
Ensure Enable is ticked.
3. Configure IP / Encryption Settings
-
Go to the IP/Encryption settings tab.
-
Set IP options to:
-
TCP/IP
-
Server
-
-
Tick Dynamic computer address:
-
This allows the mobile device to connect without a fixed IP.
-
-
Enter Send port and Receive port:
-
Typically 3006 (must match the mobile app).
-
-
If encryption is required:
-
Select AES 256 from the Encryption type dropdown.
-
Enter the AES passphrase (must match in mobile app).
-
4. Mobile App Configuration
On your mobile device:
-
Create a new site/panel entry.
-
Set Connection Type to TCP/IP.
-
Enter:
-
IP Address (of the panel)
-
Port (same as panel’s send/receive port — e.g., 3006)
-
Account (matches panel)
-
AES passphrase (if encryption enabled)
-
Challenger security password (matches panel)
-
-
Fill in User Number and User PIN.
-
Set Card Type and Site Code if applicable.
-
Save settings.
