TruVision Web browser plugin issue after Microsoft Windows 11 browser update

Issue summary

On PCs or laptops running Microsoft Windows 11 version 22H2 or higher and using Chrome browser V139 or Edge browser V139, the TruVision camera or recorder Live View web page may display a white screen instead of the live video stream (see image below). As a result, all video-related functions such as live view, playback, and similar features cannot be used as expected.

Cause

The issue is caused by a Chromium browser update released on August 5, which disrupted the functionality of our web local service plugin. This affects video-related web functions, including live view and playback.

Affected products

  • All recent TruVision cameras and recorders that support plugin-free browsers are affected when using Chrome or Edge V139 or above.
  • Other Chromium-based browsers may also be impacted due to the same update.

Important: This issue affects only the user interface experience. It has no impact on video recording or stored footage.

Solution

A new plugin has been released and is now available for download via the Live View web page of any affected device. Please note that the Windows device you are using must have an active internet connection to download the plugin. Once the plugin is installed — for either a camera or recorder — all other TruVision cameras and recorders accessed from that PC will function correctly again.

How to update

  1. Open the Live View page of any affected camera or recorder.
  2. If you see a white screen instead of the live video stream, click the "Download Plug-in" icon at the top right corner.

  3. Download the file TruVisionLocalComponents.exe (an active internet connection is required for this step).
  4. Once the download is complete, close your browser.
  5. Run the downloaded file to install the new plugin.
  6. Reopen your browser, log in to the camera/recorder, and navigate to Live View.
  7. From there, live stream should now work again.
