Introduction
This article covers how to apply a Forcefield license to a VM Forcefield system
Instructions
1. Extract the supplied "CustUpgrade" file from any zip file, and ensure it is just named "CustUpdate" (with no file extension at all).
2. Use some CD ISO image creating software (for example we know PowerISO works for this) to add the "CustUpgrade" file to an ISO image, that contains only this file, in the root folder of the CD / ISO image.
3. Set your computer to be on the same network and subnet settings as the Forcefield server and browse to the Forcefield server’s IP address. From here, log in to the ESXi console using the default login and password (which can be found in the Forcefield Installation and Setup Manual on page 20 (PDF page 26).
Now you can mount the ISO image into Forcefield as follows:
a. In the Navigator window on the left, open Storage, datastore1 item, press the “Datastore browser” button, and then press the “Upload” button, and browse to, and load the Forcefield license ISO file you wish to install.

b. Now in the Navigator window on the left, expand the “Virtual Machines” section, and select the “Forcefield” virtual machine. Then on the right-hand side, press the “Edit” button:

c. In the Edit window, scroll down to the CD/DVD Drive 1 entry, and expand it. Then change the type to a “Datastore ISO file”, and tick both of the Connect buttons. Lastly press the Browse button to browse to, and select the Forcefield license ISO file you loaded into the datastore. Then press Save.

4. Now you can start the Forcefield system up, and when it asks for the license file, this should now successfully find the mounted ISO file with the license in it, and apply it.
