Summary:
This article discusses how to create a custom button on the WMS Pro Dashboard to run a Status & control Favourite, which provides significant power in what can be achieved.
You can use custom buttons on the Dashboard in WMS Pro to achieve a wide range of tasks, as these buttons can be linked to Automations.
In this article, we will use an example of just opening a selection of Doors, saved in a Status & control Favourite, to illustrate how this can be done.
An example of the final result, with our example "Open some doors" button:
Instructions:
Here's the full instructions on how to create a Button on the Dashboard to open a selection of doors:
Part 1 - Creating a Status & control Favourite:
- Go to the "Status & control" page in WMS Pro
Click "Show advanced filters":

For the Device type filter, select "Door":

Now from the doors shown, for all the doors they want to add to this Favourite, select "Open door" in the dropdown on the right hand side:

At the top of the page, now click the "+" plus button to create a new Favourite:

Type in a name for this Favourite, and press Save, and it will save the Favourite:

You should now see your new Favourite listed:

Your Favourite is now ready to use from the Status & control page any time you wish.
To add it to the Dashboard, proceed to Part 2.
Part 2 - Creating a Dashboard shortcut button:
Now in WMS Pro, go to the Dashboard page, and toggle it to Edit mode, by clicking the Edit mode button in the top right corner:

Now down the bottom of the page, click the "Add widget" button:

In the Add widget popup, select the "Custom button widget":

It will now add your custom button widget at the bottom of the Dashboard:

Resize the button widget to a better size by moving the mouse to it's bottom right corner / sides and dragging:

Now you can drag this button to where you would like it on the Dashboard, for example, with other buttons up the top:

Now click the "Configure" gear in the top right corner of your custom button:

Now name your button, select a colour, and select a Button event number. NOTE that each button you create needs to have a unique event number, so if you already have other buttons, make sure you use a number after the numbers you have already used. If this is the first button you are creating, you can start at 1. In this example, there are 3 other buttons, so we are using event number 4:

Press Save, and your button should now look like this:

Now we need to save the Dashboard changes as well, so click the green "Save" button in the bottom right corner of the Dashboard:

And lastly, click the "Edit mode" button again, to exit Edit mode:

Now we are ready to proceed to Part 3 - assigning the Favourite to the Button event number with Automations
Part 3 - Assigning the Status & control Favourite to the Button event number using Automations
- In WMS Pro, go to the Administration > Automations page
- Press the "Create +" button in the top right hand corner
Name your Automation, and tick the "Enabled" button (NOTE that this is NOT ticked by default, so your Automation WILL NOT work if you don't tick it), and then also add some notes explaining what it does, as these will show in the Automations list too:

Press the Save button, and further tabs will now appear:

Now go to the "Triggers" tab, and at the bottom of the table, click the "+ Add trigger"

To run a Status & control Favourite, select the following values:
- Trigger type "By event"
- Event type "Operator"
- For the Operator section, you may choose either "Any" for all operators that have this on their Dashboard, or you can set only specific operators if desired.
- For the "Event", select "Operator activated macro event"
- Under "Custom macro" enter the number that you assigned as the Button event number on the Button on your Dashboard.
This will look something like the following:

- Pres Save on your Trigger, and it will save the trigger.
Now go to the Actions tab, and select "+ Add action":

In the Create action window, set the following:
- Action type "Execute command"
- Command type "Execute Status & Control favourite"
- For the Favourite, select the Favourite you created in Step 1
Your page will look something like this:

- Now press the Save button to save the Action.
This is now completed, and you can navigate back to your Dashboard, and press the newly created button, and it should execute your Status & control Favourite.
If you need to add or remove doors to this, you can just edit the existing Status & control Favourite.
