How to upgrade to latest Titan version

Titan 3.5.1 (build 31) is now free to download and has removed the registration requirement from previous versions. We recommend that all Titan users upgrade to this latest version to take advantage of the latest features and improvements.

A reminder that we recommend that Titan upgrades are carried out by trained security technicians to reduce the risk to your data and system configuration. Aritech is unable to support end users, if problems should arise please contact your system provider/installer for assistance.

 

Should I use Titan or CTPlus?

Titan is recommended for use when configuring existing Challenger v8 systems (firmware 8.128 or later).

CTPlus is recommended for all new Tecom installations using Challenger10 and ChallengerPlus.

 

Migration Path

To start, you'll need to find the version of Titan you're currently running, then commence upgrades from that version using the path below. If you do not see your specific version, please start from the closest version below your current version.

The Titan migration path is as follows:

1.6 → 1.7 → 2.0.34 → 3.2.0.34 → 3.5.1.31

Please also note the following:

  • Titan 3.2.0.34 or later can upgrade directly to Titan 3.5.1.31
  • Versions older than 3.2.0.34 need to upgrade to 3.2.0.34 before going to 3.5.1.31.

Please note: Whilst some older versions of Titan required licensing, this requirement has been removed in later versions. When following the upgrade path below, please ensure that you do not open the Titan software until you have installed the latest version. This will allow you to avoid any potential licensing-related issues.

 

How to upgrade to the latest version of Titan 

  1. Back up the "db" folder (located in C:\Program Files\Tecom\). Copy and rename DB Copy VXXX this folder to a safe location.
  2. Download Titan (links below).
  3. Unzip the downloaded file. 
  4. Run the 'setup.exe' to install the newer version of Titan over the top of your old installation.
  5. During the installation, Titan will run the DB Update utility. Ensure this completes without any errors.
  6. Back up the "db" folder again (located in C:\Program Files\Tecom\). Copy this folder to a safe location. Rename this folder with the current version number (i.e: "db 3.3").

System Requirements

To see computer requirements for the latest version of Titan, please refer to the datasheet (linked below). For older versions of Titan, please be aware of the following compatibility notes:

  • For Windows Vista, 7, 8 or any 64bit systems, you must use Titan version 3.0 or above. Earlier versions of Titan are NOT compatible with these operating systems.
  • For Windows 10, you must use Titan version 3.4 or above. Earlier versions of Titan are NOT compatible with Windows 10.

WARNING: Please note that ALL versions of Titan have known compatibility issues on the Home edition of consumer versions of Windows, as well as all editions of Windows Server. Attempting to install or use Titan in these environments is not recommended and will not be supported by the Aritech Technical Support team.
