Summary
Issues will arise when installing Security Commander 2 on a Windows 7 'Home' edition. These editions are not supported and should not be used to run Security Commander.
Issue Detail
Windows 7 Home editions handle permissions differently to the Professional and Ultimate editions due to the lack of domain connection ability. Windows 7 Home is designed to single home users with basic requirements.
Due to the way Security Commander handles the permissions for users to start background services and allow connections from client PC's, Security Commander requires the functions that are included with the Professional and Ultimate editions, but is lacking in the Home editions.
This leads to issues during installation on Home editions, and the Security Commander product will not function.
Resolution
As Security Commander is a comprehensive security facility management system, Interlogix requires the use of the Professional or Ultimate editions of Windows 7. If you are intending to run Security Commander on a PC that currently has Windows 7 Home running, you can contact Microsoft or your computer software supplier for more information on upgrading the Home edition to the Professional or Ultimate editions.
