Overview
This article covers how to convert a V8 4 Door Controller (TS0866 or TS0867) to a NAC (TS1066, TS1066-4 or TS1067)
Articles to check first:
Firstly, you should refer to the detailed articles here to see if one of these is relevant for your scenario:
Transitioning into the Tecom NAC
If there is not a specific migration guide relating to your scenario in that section, then proceed with the relevant section of this article.
Summaries contained in this article:
This article covers the following software platforms:
- WMS Pro
- TecomC4
- CTPlus

How to convert for a WMS Pro system
To perform the conversion for a WMS Pro system, the procedure is the same as described further below in the CTPlus section, however it is IMPORTANT to note that CTPlus should be connected to WMS Pro, in WMS Pro mode, and not connected to the panel directly, as otherwise WMS Pro will not be updated with the converted programming.
The steps to perform the conversion are:
- Connecting CTPlus in WMS Pro Mode: Open CTPlus, and connect it to the WMS Pro server (see the section "LOGGING IN THROUGH CTPLUS" in the WMS Pro Quick Start Guide if you need assistance on this: WMS Pro Quick Start Guide )
- Selecting the panel: Once connected to the WMS Pro server, select the panel that you wish to perform the conversion of a V8 4 Door Controller on.
- Converting the Door Controller: Now follow the "How to convert using CTPlus" instructions in the next section to perform the conversion, and this will perform the conversion live, updating WMS Pro at the same time.
The process will then be complete, and you should then also check and verify that all doors and programming is correct.
NOTE: If for any reason, the conversion is done using CTPlus directly connected to the panel, in WMS Pro, you will then need to go the Status & control page, and do a "Retrieve config" from the panel, to bring in the new programming.
How to convert for a TecomC4 system
To perform the conversion for a TecomC4 system, you will need to first perform the conversion with CTPlus connected directly to the panel, and then load the configuration from the panel into TecomC4 again.
This is done as follows:
- Converting the Door Controller: Follow the procedure in the section below on "How to convert using CTPlus", to connect directly to the panel with CTPlus, making sure that your CTPlus system's Configuration is set to "TecomC4" mode.
-
Bringing the programming into TecomC4: Once the conversion in the step above is complete, now in TecomC4, go to Navigation > Devices, and right click on the panel you have done the conversion on, and choose "Load configuration from device", as shown here:
Once the load from the device completes, TecomC4 will now be updated. You should then also check and verify that all doors and programming is correct.
How to convert using CTPlus
To perform the conversion using CTPlus, first connect to the panel you wish to perform the conversion of a V8 4 Door Controller on.
Firstly, perform the following checks, depending on your connection type:
WMS Pro connections: If you are using WMS Pro Management Software, see the section above for connecting through WMS Pro first.
TecomC4 connections: If you are using TecomC4 Management Software, ensure that your CTPlus system is configured in CTPlus to use the "TecomC4" software mode, under Administration > Systems - as follows:
Also ensure that you do a "Retrieve all programming" and wait for it to complete first, to be sure you have the latest programming from the panel in CTPlus, before proceeding with the steps below.
Direct to Panel connections: If you are connecting directly to a panel (i.e. not via WMS Pro), ensure you connect to the panel, and do a "Retrieve all programming" and wait for it to complete first, to be sure you have the latest programming from the panel in CTPlus, before proceeding with these steps.
Performing the Conversion:
Now to perform the conversion, the steps are as follows:
- Open the DGPs window in CTPlus, and select the DGP that you wish to convert
- Press the "Conversion wizard" button on the toolbar, as shown below:
- You will then see the Conversion wizard options, as follows:
- In the "From" box, ensure you select the correct type of V8 4 Door Controller that you are converting from.
- In the "To" box, you have two options. These will be either a TS1066 NAC, or a TS1067 NAC. However if the V8 Door Controller you have selected is a TS0867 (which has onboard Wiegand readers), or you have selected a TS0866 with expansion, then to allow for this, you will see that the TS1066 option now has "TS1066 with 2 x DWI", as shown below:
The details on these options are:
- TS1066 with 2 x DWI - This option will convert to a TS1066 NAC (in 4 door mode), and will also add on 2 x Dual Wiegand Interface boards as sub-DGPs to the NAC, to allow for any Wiegand connected readers on the TS1066, since the TS1066 doesn't have onboard Wiegand inputs. If you don't have Wiegand connect readers, you can simply delete these extra DGPs after the conversion
- TS1067 - This option will convert all items over to a TS1067, which already has onboard Wiegand ports, so no expansion is needed.
-
Once you have made your selection, choose "OK", and the conversion will proceed. In the Live events window, you should see the conversion status, something like this example:
-
If you have selected a TS1066 with 2 x DWI, in your Status and control tree, you will also see the 2 x DWI sub DGPs added similar to this:
-
If you do not wish to keep these 2 x DWI sub DGPs, then you can simply go to the DGPs window, and the "Assigned DGP" tab, and delete them from there, using the '-' minus button. They will look something like this:
Your conversion process is now complete.
You should then also check and verify that all doors and programming is correct.
Lastly, if you were following one of the sections further above for WMS Pro, or TecomC4, now continue with any remaining steps needed for that section.
