Types of Proximity Readers available
The Aritech range of proximity readers are fully compatible with the Challenger Panel and Access Controllers, as access control devices at strategic locations. Once connected the readers can be programmed to operate in a variety of ways based on the many possibilities available through the Challenger system’s programming options.
Hill's range of HID proximity readers are mostly compatible with the Challenger Panel and Access Controllers, as access control devices at strategic locations (please check to ensure compatibility). Once connected and the LED control is sorted out, the readers can be programmed to operate in a variety of ways based on the many possibilities available through the Challenger system’s programming options. Please note: HID Readers need to be pulled high to get LED’s to work.
What products the Readers can be wired up to
TS0862 Smart Door Controller
The Smart Door Controller has an offline database and can be connected to the Challenger LAN. An alternative to the larger Intelligent Four Door Controller, this unit is ideal for access to areas where an offline database for emergencies is important, for a limited number of access control doors or as an expansion unit to the Intelligent Four Door Controller.
TS0867 Intelligent Four Door Controller
An intelligent access control and alarm monitoring unit designed to control access to four doors. The TS0867 supports many reader formats, including magnetic swipe and proximity readers. A host of programming options for the Intelligent Four Door Controller offers a level of customisation not found in other access control panels. If IUM is installed, reader formats can be mixed on Four Door Controller. You can not mix swipe and proximity readers on the one Four Door Controller.
TS0869 Intelligent Four Lift Controller
The Lift Controller is a powerful controller for extensive multi level buildings requiring floor access control. The TS0869 handles four lifts and access to 64 floors on each lift.

Programming on Four Door/Lift Controller (No IUM)
The Reader Format Type can be selected from the available list on Challenger -> Intelligent Access Controller -> Door -> Reader Options
Programming Prox Readers with IUM
Titan needs to know that IUM is installed. Go to Admin -> Challenger and tick IUM Installed Box.
Titan needs to then know what reader format is going to be used. If reader format is not listed below, select “User Defined”.
If Prox Reader is attached to a Smart Door Controller, a six digit site code and offset needs to be assigned in Challenger -> System Options -> System Options Part 3.
If Prox Reader is attached to a Four Door/Lift Controller, the site code and offset needs to be assigned in Challenger -> Intelligent Access Controller -> Controllers -> Controller.
