Upgrading Challenger10 to firmware 8435 (Latest Release) via Titan 3.3 – Kidde Global Solutions Support

Upgrading Challenger 10 to firmware 8435 via Titan 3.3

To do this firmware upgrade there are several requirements

If using Management software the build needs to be one of the following:

Titan 3.3

NOTE ANY VERSIONS OTHER THAN THE ABOVE WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE PANEL AFTER THE UPGRADE.

Challenger 10 Bootloader version needs to be V02-03.3433.

Check this via 19>11>1>enter until it says Bootloader.

If on a prior version you will need to do the upgrade as per Firmware 3605

Download the Challenger firmware (Titan) V10-06-8435

1, Disconnect any Active systems and close Titan.

2, Back up your current Titan database with System Manager

3, Download Titan 3.4

4, Run the Titan 3.4 installer over the top of the current installation. (Run Setup.EXE as Administrator)

5, Run Titan and ensure panel still has connectivity.

6, Close titan and do a fresh database backup. (Recommend naming it something like: Titan upgraded pre 06 firmware)

1, Open Titan 3.3 and connect to panel to be upgraded.

2, Select Control>Firmware upgrade. (Titan will not respond message) press O.K.

3, Ensure the correct device Type and Challenger number is selected.

4, Browse to the firmware file: Challenger10_pcb1020_V10-06-8435.zip

5, Press Download/Upgrade

6, You will see a Challenger Type mismatch message - This is normal.

After the Challenger Type mismatch & Upgrade Successful windows appear we want to change the Challenger Type.

7, Deactivate the active system.

8, Go to Admin>Challenger type should currently display as Challenger 10 (Pre V10-06)

9, Select the Type dropdown and change the type to Challenger 10, Save.

10, Backup confirmation, if you have backed up the database as per (6, Procedure Pt1) then press Yes.

11, Warning Titan is going to migrate text words it can not rollback are you sure? (As long as you have backed up press Yes)

12, Connect to panel via Activate System, Confirm, Yes to download descriptions to panel (This is a slow download and can take several minutes)

13, Do a full download to the panel and test site/access functionality.

14, Create a fresh backup (Recommend naming it something like: Titan upgraded firmware upgraded)
